As the most consumed and most important component in ball mills, ball mill steel balls play an important role in metallurgy, mining, electric power, building materials and other industrial fields. Among them, forged steel balls are widely used in many enterprises due to their low cost, good quality and high efficiency. The forged steel ball is selected, but the 40Mn2 steel ball in actual production has a crack problem. The following is a brief introduction to the detection method of this situation.

First check the quality of the finished ball milled steel balls, then perform tensile tests and metallographic tests on the raw materials of the ball milled steel balls, and finally analyze the forging technology of the ball milled steel balls, find out the reasons for the cracks in the steel balls, and optimize the forging technology to eliminate the ball milled steel balls. For the purpose of internal cracks in the finished ball, two sets of simulation experiments were carried out with the optimized forging technology. During the experiment, blanks with the same material and shape were used. When the experimental parameters were the same as the actual production, the first set of experiments used the previous forging technology.
