1. Billet preparation stage

This can provide a basis for subsequent precise forging and reduce the dimensional error of the finished product caused by excessive differences in billet dimensions.
Quality control: Ensure that the material of the billet is uniform. Uneven material may cause inconsistent deformation of the billet during the forging process. Purchase billets from suppliers with reliable quality and conduct component testing to ensure that their chemical composition meets the requirements so that the billet is relatively consistent in physical properties.
2. Forging process control
Mold accuracy: The accuracy of the mold directly affects the size of the steel ball. When designing the mold, the cavity size tolerance should be controlled within a very small range, such as ±0.03mm. And the wear of the mold should be checked regularly, because after the mold is worn, the cavity size will change, which will affect the dimensional accuracy of the steel ball.
Process parameter adjustment: Accurately control the forging temperature and pressure. Different steels have different forging temperature ranges. Generally, the forging temperature of alloy steel is around 1100-1200℃. At this temperature, the plasticity of the steel is good and it is easy to form. At the same time, the pressure should also be reasonably controlled. Too much or too little pressure will cause deviations in the size of the steel ball. The appropriate pressure range can be determined through experiments and experience accumulation, and real-time monitoring and adjustment can be performed through pressure sensors during the forging process.
