6 Ways To Reduce Energy Consumption Of Grinding Steel Balls

Aug 29, 2022

The consumption of steel balls in the ball mill is very large, accounting for more than 10 times of the lining plate of the ball mill. In order to make up for the loss of the steel balls of the ball mill and ensure the constant particle size of the ball charge in the ball mill, it is necessary to regularly add steel balls in a certain proportion.

1. Change the grindability of ore

The particle size of the material fed into the ball mill is one of the reasons that affect the energy consumption of the steel balls of the ball mill. Generally, if the grindability of the input particle size is small, the ore is easy to grind, the wear of the steel balls of the ball mill is smaller, and the energy consumption is also smaller; otherwise, the on the contrary.

In actual production, if the ore that is difficult to grind or the ore requires fine grinding, it can be considered to add a certain chemical agent in the grinding process to improve the grinding effect and increase the grinding effect when the economy and site conditions allow. ore efficiency; or heat treatment of the ore to change the mechanical properties of the entire ore and reduce the hardness of the ore. Both methods can effectively reduce the energy consumption of the ball mill.

2. Reduce the feed particle size

The larger the grinding particle size of the ball mill, the greater the work done by the ball mill on the material. In order to achieve the specified grinding fineness, the workload of the ball mill is bound to increase, and subsequently, the energy consumption of the steel balls will also increase.

In order to reduce the power consumption of the ball mill, the particle size of the grinding material can be reduced, so the particle size of the crushed ore product is required to be small, that is, "more crushing and less grinding".

3. Reasonable steel ball filling rate

When the speed of the ball mill reaches a certain level, the filling rate is large, the number of times the steel ball hits the material, the grinding area is large, and the wear is fast. The striking effect of large particle materials. On the contrary, the filling rate is too small and the grinding effect is weak.

At present, the filling rate of steel balls in the grinding operation of ore dressing plants is generally 45%~50%. According to the actual situation of each dressing plant, it is not a reasonable filling rate. Therefore, it is necessary to pass ore dressing tests to determine a reasonable filling rate. quantity.

4. Reasonable steel ball size and ratio

Because the steel ball in the ball mill is in point contact with the material, if the diameter of the steel ball is too large, the crushing force is also large, and the wear is too fast, and it is easy to cause the material to be broken in the direction of the penetration force, which affects the grinding efficiency. In addition, under the same conditions as the filling rate of steel balls, if the ball diameter is too large, the amount of steel balls will be less, the probability of crushing will be low, the phenomenon of over-crushing will be aggravated, and the particle size of the product will be uneven; Small, the grinding efficiency is low. Therefore, a reasonable steel ball size ratio will not only reduce the steel consumption of the ball mill, but also effectively improve the grinding efficiency.

5. Reasonable grinding concentration

The size of the grinding concentration will affect the specific gravity of the pulp, the adhesion degree of the material around the steel ball and the fluidity of the pulp. If the grinding concentration is high, the adhesion of the material around the steel ball is good, the impact and grinding effect of the steel ball on the material is also large, and the wear of the steel ball is faster.

In actual production, the grinding concentration can be controlled by controlling the amount of ore feeding, or the amount of make-up water, or adjusting the grading function.

6. Control the speed of the ball mill

Under the premise that the ratio of steel balls in the ball mill is reasonable and the rotation speed of the ball mill increases, the steel balls in the cylinder will be in a falling state and become a falling state. The effect is the best, and the steel ball wear of the ball mill is also the most reasonable.

The theoretical critical rotation rate of the ball mill is generally 78 to 84%. Due to the nature of the material and other factors, the speed of the ball mill needs to be determined according to the actual situation.

In the grinding process, there are many factors that affect the energy consumption of the steel balls of the ball mill, and most of the factors are difficult to analyze quantitatively. Only qualitative analysis and judgment can be made. It is necessary to reduce the energy consumption of the steel balls of the ball mill under the premise of ensuring reasonable quality indicators. Consumption must be considered from multiple links, and each link must be well controlled to achieve the final technical and economic indicators and good product quality indicators.
