Wear-resistant steel ball is an indispensable part (grinding body) of ball mill. It is undoubtedly the largest wear-resistant material consumable part of the world's crushing industry at present and for the foreseeable future. In 2008, only one industry in China was consumed. About 2 million tons of steel balls of various materials, and my country's cement industry is expected to consume a record 200,000 tons in 2009.


The wear-resistant steel balls on the market are generally divided into two types: cast steel balls and forged steel balls.


1. Casting steel ball (casting grinding ball) is a steel ball manufacturer that uses an intermediate frequency electric furnace to heat up scrap materials such as scrap steel and scrap iron to make the charge fully melted. In the process of melting the charge, an appropriate amount of precious metal alloy (such as ferrochrome) is added. , Ferromanganese, ferrovanadium, etc.) in the furnace for chemical composition tempering. After the temperature of the molten iron reaches 1550°C or higher and the process requirements are met, the qualified molten iron is poured into the steel ball mold or the steel ball production line mold. That is, the steel balls produced by casting and smelting are called cast steel balls (cast grinding balls).

Cast steel balls are divided into high-chromium alloy cast balls, multi-element alloy cast balls, and low-chromium alloy cast balls according to their materials.


2. Forged steel balls are steel balls produced by steel ball manufacturers through direct high-temperature heating and then forging. They do not require melting and casting, but are called forged steel balls after forging.

The chromium content of forged steel balls is between 0.1% and 0.5% (forged balls generally do not contain chromium), the carbon content is less than 1.0%, and the steel balls are manufactured by high temperature forging. Some forged steel balls have surface hardness (HRC) It can reach ≥56 or more.
